Recording Studios in Papua New Guinea

A recording studio is the last thing you would expect to see in a country like Papua New Guinea where you expect pristine beaches and thick jungles with the locals dancing to the beat of tribal drums. Well, we still do have virgin beaches and jungles that have all manners of creatures but we also have a thriving music industry. In fact, that's what pays my bills.

I just thought I would share some eye candy of the studios that we have here in the country. We do use protools and mac and though they make great sound, I prefer large consoles that are reliable and have that warm sounds that I like. Besides, a mac console just doesn't have the commanding presence that the big consoles of yesteryear has.

Port Moresby

yup! that's a 2-inch master - better for recording rock n roll!
2 sets of genelecs - they don't come any better!

Lae

oy! is that a touch screen console?
the team that installed the studio.

Kokopo

boom boom pow!

the man who maintains everything - Chris!

And a few artists in action...

Dika enjoying himself.
Nathalie listening to her vocals.
Lister letting it loose!
